We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sr. Project Manager of Project Portfolio Management to oversee the planning, prioritization, and execution of projects across our organization. This role will be responsible for supervising the project portfolio, aligning projects with strategic objectives, and optimizing resource allocation to maximize business value. The Sr. Project Manager of Project Portfolio Management (PPM) assists the Director of Project Portfolio Management in developing a comprehensive project management program designed to serve McLean Hospital.

With a focus on strategic alignment, resource optimization, and effective governance, the Sr. Project Manager plays an essential role in driving successful project outcomes and maximizing business value. By leading various teams throughout the hospital. The Sr. Project Manager of Project Portfolio Management fosters a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on achieving portfolio objectives and delivering value to the organization. With a strong emphasis on communication, risk management, and continuous improvement, this role is essential for driving organizational success through effective project portfolio management practices.

Selected on-site presence, and hybrid schedule to meet with various stakeholders to evaluate the progress and effectiveness of the project portfolio management program. Proactively identifies needs and facilitates 1:1 or group meetings with hospital personnel to problem-solve and prevent avoidable challenges. The on-site work expectation, for the Sr. Project Manager of Project Portfolio Management may change and falls under the decision authority of the Executive Director of Operations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Portfolio Planning:

Develop and maintain a comprehensive project portfolio aligned with the organization's strategic objectives. Work closely with the Director of Project Portfolio Management to prioritize projects based on business priorities, resource constraints, and risk considerations.

Resource Allocation:

Optimize resource allocation across the project portfolio to ensure alignment with strategic goals and efficient utilization of resources. Collaborate with functional managers to allocate resources based on project priorities, skills, and availability.

Project Governance:

Assist the Director of Project Portfolio Management in establishing project governance processes and standards to ensure consistency, transparency, and accountability across the project portfolio. Define project management methodologies, templates, and tools to facilitate project execution and reporting.

Performance Monitoring:

Implement systems and metrics to monitor the performance of projects within the portfolio. Track key performance indicators (KPIs), milestones, and deliverables to measure progress and identify areas for improvement.

Risk Management:

Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with projects within the portfolio. Develop risk management strategies and contingency plans to address potential threats and ensure project success.

Stakeholder Communication:

Communicate regularly with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to provide updates on project status, performance, and risks. Facilitate decision-making and resolution of issues to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Portfolio Optimization:

Continuously evaluate the project portfolio to identify opportunities for optimization, consolidation, or reprioritization. Recommend adjustments to the Director of Project Portfolio Management based on changing business needs, market conditions, or resource constraints.

Team Leadership:

Lead multi-disciplinary teams to ensure effective project execution and portfolio management. Provide coaching, guidance, and support to team members to foster professional development and growth.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (typically 3-5 years) A degree in a relevant field such as business administration, project management, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline.




  1. Master's Degree (Preferred): A master's degree in a relevant field such as Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA), Master of Science (MS) in Project Management, or Master of Science in Business Analytics is preferred.




  1. Project Management Certification (Required)




  1. Candidates for this position would have around 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in project management, portfolio management, or a related field.

Continuing Education: Given the dynamic nature of project management and portfolio management practices, ongoing professional development and continuing education are essential and will be expected throughout the incumbent's tenure. Staying updated on industry trends, emerging methodologies, and best practices through workshops, seminars, conferences, and online courses have been proven to enhance knowledge and skills in portfolio management.
