We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to implement advanced algorithms and software for our Prime Air delivery Drone. In this role, you will work alongside Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) scientists and deliver application software that is responsible for the trajectory generation, state estimation, stability, and control of the Drone. This person must be comfortable working with a team of top-notch developers and researchers. We're looking for someone who innovates, and loves solving hard problems! You will work hard, have fun, and of course, make history!
Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon's ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Seattle, WA, USA
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 4+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in the aerospace or signal processing industry
- Experience with hardware/software integration and real time operating systems
- Experience developing complex, mission-critical systems that have been delivered to customers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
