The primary role of the Torque Tool Engineer is leading the Process Engineering Team to provide tooling support for GFTX, minimize production downtime, improve quality of fastened joints, and be a significant contributor to the overall success of GFTX. Additionally, the successful individual will be the subject matter expert on torque tools supporting other Tesla Work Centers including PT, BIW, Seat Plant.


Responsibilities
  • Be the go-to resource for Production to address tooling issues, coordinate with the Atlas Copco Tool Crib to expedite repairs, minimize production down time
  • Mange the Torque Team on providing supports to tooling line calls, as well as sustaining activities such as torque audits, and the calibration and basic maintenance of tools and fixtures
  • Create and maintain torque task configuration and flow control in FX/MOS
  • Create/optimize/sustain tightening programs to meet design intent on multiple platforms
  • Support new product introduction, line re-balancing, and commissioning of new tools
  • Perform NOK analysis and process capability studies, assist warranty investigation
  • Troubleshoot existing joint applications with the Design and Process Engineering


Requirements
  • Expertise in DC electric, pneumatic and battery-powered torque tools
  • Working knowledge of network communication
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Knowledgeable of GA processes
