Responsibilities

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing a variety of basic and mechanical maintenance repairs to support the plant facility. Repairs, installs, replace and tests fixtures, electrical outlets, electrical circuits, basic plumbing (faucets, toilets, ice machine etc....). Performs building (facility) repairs including but not limited to siding, drywall, painting, etc.....) Uses hand tools and testing instruments. Dismantles machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Inspects completed work for conformance with requirements of local building and safety codes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Inspects facility equipment daily performing various production startup and coverage tasks.
  • Complete building repairs (ex. Siding, lighting, drywall and paint etc....)
  • Maintains various plant machines by performing troubleshooting and general (preventive) maintenance.
  • Uses prints, specifications, follows verbal instructions to make repairs to ordinary plumbing and electrical systems. Installs and threads pipe, performs soldering and cutting.
  • Light mig/tig welding and fabrication work
  • Assists in the installation of equipment.
  • Receive, unpack, and put away MRO material into inventory.
  • Locate and issue required materials to maintenance and other client personnel.
  • Relocate material within storeroom for more efficient use of space.
  • May deliver materials to various departments.
  • Use computers to organize and locate parts and maintain accurate part information.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties around the facility (Internal/External)
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Utilize heavy equipment (ex. Forklift, Sky-track, scissor lift, boom lift) to complete task.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge:

    • Basic electrical/mechanical knowledge required. Must be familiar with electrical schematics.
    • Understanding and completion of basic lock-out, tag-out procedures. Lock colors, and understanding of the Bradford Graphics signs, knowledge of when to utilize 2 points of control vs-controlled access vs zero energy.
    • Requires judgment to make decisions regarding sequence of maintenance operations to be performed within the limits of standard practice.
    • Ability to work in somewhat disagreeable conditions, dust, noise, fumes and vibrations.
    • Ability to work overtime as require.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to operate heavy equipment (Forklift, Skytrack, etc....)
    Qualifications

    Education/Experience:

    • High School diploma or G.E.D required: A minimum of two or more year's industrial food manufacturing equipment experience required.
    • Forklift, Skytrack and other similar heavy duty equipment experience required.

    This position requires sitting and climbing or balancing under 1/3 of the time. Must be able to lift weights ranging from 10 to more than 100 pounds under 1/3 of the time.

    This position will be exposed to work in high, precarious place, and outdoor weather conditions under 1/3 of the time. Will work near moving mechanical parts over 2/3 of the time. Typical noise level is loud (examples: metal can manufacture department, large earth-moving equipment).
