We serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules and subsystems to support our customer's next generation networks. We are hiring a Staff Optical System Test Engineer to join our team. This person will be responsible for testing our optical DWDM network. This role is critical to the advancement of our next phases in product development.

What You Will Do

  • Transform customer specification and/or product requirement to system test requirement and test cases
  • Develop and execute test plans that outline the approach, resources, and schedule for testing activities which cover all testing levels to ensure the hardware, optics and software meets all system design and requirements
  • Work with hardware, optical and software engineers throughout the development lifecycle to ensure the testing coverage and implementation allowing for early detection of issues and continuous feedback on R&D teams
  • Develop, define and maintain automated testing processes, specify functions of testing scripts suite that supports optical line system bring-up, traffic provision and performance tests.
  • Collect and analyze Hardware, Optics and Software data generated during testing and system operation. The analysis should include statistical methods to identify trends, anomalies and defects.
  • Provide customer field hands-on technical support for optical networking system installing, bring-up, testing, maintaining and troubleshooting


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, optical, photonics or related discipline
  • At least 5 years of work-related experience in optical system integration and optical networking testing
  • At least 3 years of work experience in test development and automation for long-haul or metro system composing of OLA (EDFA/Raman) and ROADM
  • Experience with transforming customer specification and/or product requirement to system test cases and detail test plan is highly expected
  • Hands-on lab experience for optical line system installing & bring-up
  • Hands-on scripting experience for test automation in Python
  • Working knowledge on common optical modules in the optical network, such as WSS, OCM, EDFA, Raman, OTDR, etc., and lab testing equipment, such as OSA, power meter, VOA, TLS, Optical Switch, Oscilloscope etc.


What Will Put You Ahead
  • Masters or PhD in optical, physics, photonics or related concentration
  • Optical system performance test experience and/or optical system software design verification experience are preferred


For this role, we anticipate paying $150,000- $200,00 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
