The DUE Multiverse team is validating new releases at scale, producing key input to company decisions for safety and compliance evaluations. We are also monitoring our RO driver and comparing the realized performance with our past predictions. We run some of the most compute intensive jobs at Waymo and develop cutting edge modeling to make them more efficient. We are looking for software engineers that combine strong software engineering skills with a top understanding of data at scale.

In this role, you will
  • Report to a Staff Member in Simulation
  • Lead the development of low latency large-scale system processing live data from the fleet. Develop and implement systems to derive important insights from this data
  • Automate actions from these insights with high precision, high recall: alerting, escalation or log preservation
  • Help define product requirements and align the technical agenda with business objectives

At a minimum we would like you to have:
  • M.S. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience with hands-on experience in quantitative evaluation projects
  • Coding experience in C++ or Python
  • Experience in either large-scale system design or A/B testing

It's preferred if you have:
  • Ph.D. degree Computer Science or related quantitative field
  • 10+ years of experience with hands-on experience in quantitative evaluation projects
  • Large-scale data processing and analytical skills

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process.

Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo's discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.

$192,000-$243,000 USD
