Under the general direction of the Executive Officer (EO), the Staff Services Manager I (Specialist) [(SSM I (Spec)] will support the mission of the Fast Food Council (FFC) to establish an hourly minimum wage for fast food restaurant employees and develop standards, rules, and regulations for the fast food industry. The SSMI (Spec) performs the most difficult and sensitive work in areas of program development, policy and coordination which have major impact on the FFC's operations and program. The incumbent will support the FFC in their regularly scheduled meetings and subcommittee meetings, in hiring, and in budget allocations, and provide advice that impacts the FFC's policies. The FFC is responsible for developing new minimum employment standards specific to the fast food industry. These standards include future minimum wage increases as well as working hours and working conditions to "ensure and maintain the health, safety, and welfare of, and to supply the necessary cost of proper living to fast food restaurant workers."
The SSM I (Spec) will carry out complex and sensitive duties that help support, promote, coordinate, represent and administer the initiatives of the FFC as a project leader. The incumbent in this position is a non-supervisory expert responsible for identifying and analyzing legislation which would present an impact to the FFC, and occasionally presenting the FFC's policies and positions before the Legislature and external entities.

Working Conditions
The incumbent works 40 hours per week. This position is eligible for remote-centered hybrid telework up to three days per week; the other two days per week are in the Sacramento office. The incumbent is regularly required to remain in a stationary position, communicate and to work at a computer for extended periods of time and to move and transport office items in a safe manner.
The incumbent will be required to travel occasionally.
