Tesla is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to enhance, develop, and scale the infrastructure that underpins our Energy IoT applications. These innovative applications deliver real-time monitoring, optimization, and control for our flagship Tesla Energy products, including Powerwall, Megapack, Solar Roof, Supercharger, Autobidder, and Virtual Power Plants.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of new technologies, tools, and platforms to identify potential benefits and drawbacks for our Energy IoT applications
  • Investigate and troubleshoot unexpected issues that arise during operations, using data-driven approaches to identify root causes and develop effective solutions
  • Analyze development workflows and identify areas for improvement to optimize development efficiency and reduce project timelines
  • Demonstrate expertise in reading, comprehending, and reviewing code written by team members to ensure that it meets our high standards of quality, security, and scalability
  • Simplify complex subjects to ensure accessibility of technical documentation to develop clear and concise technical writing standards, ensuring that documentation is accurate and accessible
  • Collaborate with the team to identify requirements for library development, ensuring that they meet our high standards of quality, security, and scalability
  • Design, develop, and maintain reusable libraries for use by multiple engineers across our Energy IoT applications
  • Provide technical leadership to the team, setting goals and priorities for project initiatives

Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years proven experience in architecting and scaling infrastructure specifically for Energy IoT applications
  • Proficiency in technologies such as Linux, Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, Prometheus, GitHub Actions, PostgreSQL, Kafka, InfluxDB, Scala, and Rust
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities demonstrated through practical application
  • Collaborative team player with a strong commitment to learning, mentorship, and fostering open dialogue
  • Ability to make informed and judicious decisions by effectively evaluating trade-offs
  • Experience in delivering real-time monitoring, optimization, and control solutions for various Tesla Energy products, including Powerwall, Megapack, Solar Roof, Supercharger, Autobidder, and Virtual Power Plants
  • Deep understanding of systems thinking, with practical experience in addressing challenges related to the availability, reliability, scalability, and security of distributed software systems

    • Expected Compensation

      $104,000 - $348,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
