State Planning and Preparedness Unit Chief

This position supports the California Department of Public Health's (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by ensuring the department is prepared to respond to an event or emergency that negatively impacts the health of Californians. Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager II of the Planning, Preparedness and Coordination Section, the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) of the State Planning and Preparedness Unit is responsible for the development, maintenance, and implementation of plans and procedures for the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). The SSM I coordinates with federal, State (i.e., the Emergency Management Services Authority (EMSA), the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), other CalHHS Departments, etc.), and local agencies involved in emergency preparedness and disaster response planning to ensure a coordinated, multidisciplinary response effort within the Medical Health Coordination Center (MHCC) and across the department. The incumbent is responsible for the development of plans and accompanying procedures for CDPH.

The Center for Preparedness and Response (CPR) is recruiting a Staff Services Manager I (SSMI) to join the Planning, Preparedness and Coordination Section. CPR coordinates statewide public health emergency preparedness and response planning for the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) with a primary focus on preparing Californians for public health emergencies. • Experience in emergency management and/or community preparedness. Experience with Public Health and Medical emergency management is highly desirable.

• Ability to demonstrate attention to detail; communicate effectively across diverse stakeholders; be adaptable and flexible to changing priorities and situations.
• Experience with project management or planning.
• Experience working with grants deliverables.
