About the Role:

The Mobility and Structures Design Department is looking for an Area Manager for the Franchise Structures and Analysis group to provide functional engineering leadership to a growing group of engineers in the design and development of ground combat vehicle systems. This team of engineers includes design responsible engineers along with structural analysts.

Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role:
  • Direct supervisory responsibility for a growing team of structures design engineers and structural analysis engineers (FEA) including hiring and performance management and employee development.
  • Manage work assignments, budgets, and schedules to ensure high quality and timely work products.
  • Balance multiple priorities and programs through judgment and assessment of risk
  • Utilize metrics to measure quality and drive continuous improvement into work products and processes.
  • Review and approve work products such as new drawing/model releases, drawing/model changes, and analysis artifacts (reports)
  • Develop planning and proposal inputs and BOEs.
  • Manage manpower demand and meet staffing requirements.
  • Utilize Teamcenter to assign work, review drawings and approve proposed changes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Sought:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Masters Degree is preferred.
  • 15+ years engineering experience, leadership experience preferred
  • Structural design experience and technical competency preferred
  • Analysis experience preferred
  • Track record of delivering applicable products on schedule/cost and with high quality
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively
  • Mind-set to work collaboratively in a team environment for program success
  • Proven skills in the development of technical documents and oral communication
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills sought.
  • Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint) required
  • TeamCenter experience (desired)

Additional Information / Desired Experience

This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance)
  • Previous experience working in the defense industry desired, ground-based Vehicle Systems preferred.
  • This position may require the candidate to be able to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles is desired. Must be able to pass ASR test (Anthropometric Size Requirement for confined space)
  • Familiarity with military standards and test requirements desired.
  • Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills is required Works well in team and individually.
  • Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
  • Occasional travel to test sites may be required.
