The University of Virginia Division of Student Affairs invites applications for an exciting opportunity within the Division - Events Manager. Events Managers assist with a variety of event activities, including processing facility reservation requests, supporting client accounts, maintaining vendor relationships, and helping to plan and execute events. They gather cost information and make recommendations to clients. Event Managers compile event material, run usage reports, process billing, and update the event calendar, as necessary. They coordinate details and event logistics and adhere to a budget.

Responsibilities include:
  • Assist Events Manager in aspects of event planning, including scheduling facilities, negotiating rental costs with clients, ensuring adequate staffing for events, tracking expenditures, collecting fees and maintaining necessary financial records, budgeting for events, and overseeing daily facility usage.
  • Handle customer relations issues.
  • Ensure student employee staff is prepared to serve customers daily. Identify current projects and tasks to be completed.
  • Process reservation requests and maintain database. Prepare set-up reports and investigate and resolve problems.
  • Ensure daily readiness of the Event Management office and document procedures.
  • Update outgoing telephone message on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with the Events Operation Manager to provide operational support.
  • Oversee the processing of facility requests via EMS and 25Live software.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Compensation and Benefits:

The hiring range for this position is $19.32-$24.14 per hour , commensurate with qualifications and experience. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a background check. This is a nonexempt-level, overtime eligible position with UVa benefits. Employees' benefits package highlights include:

Physical Demands:

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend events, meetings, and programs.
