As a Career Ambassador, you will support Thomas Jefferson University students' professional and career development within the Center for Career Success (CCS), Center City & Dixon Campuses. You will learn how to review and revise resumes/CVs, write and edit cover letters, interview and conduct interviews, and other core career-readiness skills. You will utilize these skills to educate and support your peers with their personal career development needs.

This position may help you enhance core professional skills such as:
  • Communication: develop active listening, empathy, and influencing skills by helping students grow their own career readiness skills
  • Leadership: Lead and develop programming on behalf of the CCS. Gain experience in program planning, advocating for your ideas, and implementing them in a fun environment.
  • Equity & Inclusion: Gain experience working with and helping peers from diverse backgrounds. Develop your personal approach to equitable and inclusive communication to prepare you to work with interdisciplinary teams and diverse populations in your career.
  • Career & Self Development: Develop and learn career management skills from our office to use in your own job search. Gain experience networking with peers, faculty, and staff.


Roles/Responsibilities:
  • Work 2-5 hours per week for the Fall and Spring semesters in person, and remotely as needed
  • Host a 2-hour career café once a week in Scott Memorial Library for current students to review their resumes, CVs, and cover letters during the Fall and Spring Semesters
  • Host at least one pop-up event per semester (events on campus that spread information to students about career services with a fun activity)
  • Attend biweekly team meetings
  • Attend a half day training retreat in the Fall
  • Assist the CCS with planning and implementation of their ongoing events as your class schedule allows (career fairs, employer events, etc.)

  • Brainstorm and manage social media content and marketing material on behalf of the CCS
  • Assist with Mock Interviews
  • Develop and implement presentations to various student groups
  • Co-present on career related topics to classrooms
  • Volunteer and collaborate on CCS programming


Qualifications:
  • Rising 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year Jefferson student
  • Ability to develop and/or utilize helping skills such as active listening, problem solving, and goal setting
  • Demonstration of professionalism, including dedication to position, effective communication and collaboration, and integrity
  • Ability to work inclusively with students of diverse backgrounds and perspectives
  • Interest in career development and desire to support others to develop career-readiness skills
  • Ability to commit a minimum of 2 hours a week to the position in both Fall and Spring semesters
