  • Position Summary:
    The BCPS 21st CCLC Extended Learning Coordinator(s) (ELCs) are responsible for supervising and
    implementing the 21st CCLC after school programming activities, assuring that the program is delivered
    in accordance with grant, child care licensing and district policies, procedures, and expectations in
    accordance with the Michigan Department of Education. This position facilitate strategies designed to
    prevent continued academic loss while providing a safe, supportive, and engaging environment that
    promotes academic growth, behavioral improvement and consistent daily attendance. In addition,
    Extended Learning Coordinators will manage and supervise youth development workers, teachers,
    enrichment scheduling, community providers and volunteers to achieve the program's purpose of
    improving student achievement. S/he will ensure accurate and timely submissions of purchase requests,
    attendance input and data management, credits recovered, site timesheets and site paperwork and
    documentations.

    Extended Learning Coordinators are the primary representative of BCPS 21st CCLC Before & After
    School Program for 32 weeks of the school year and are responsible for assuring effective relationships
    with all stakeholders---principal, teachers, support staff, parents, students, etc. Extended Learning
    Coordinators are expected to collaborate with their program team members and building teaching staff
    to ensure students receive appropriate support throughout the 32 weeks of program.

    Working Conditions:
    Normal working conditions may include:
    • Minimal physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, etc.
    • Occasionally lifting of supplies, materials, etc. to waist level.
    • Ability to drive plus the availability of a vehicle to use for getting to and from meetings,transporting of supplies and materials. Candidates must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
    • Must be able to observe and hear students, staff and providers across a wide range of settings and interpret those observations for the purpose of safety, evaluation, monitoring and program modifications.
    • Must be able to work occasional evenings, weekends or early mornings in order to cover work responsibilities.

    Position Responsibilities:
    • Provides the oversight, management and stewardship over program supplies/materials and purchasing requests.
    • Communicates effectively with parents/caregivers regarding enrollment, attendance, bus arrangements, support services, disciplinary actions, and other areas.
    • Provides oversight for all enrichment providers and volunteer placements including:
    • orientation to the site, connections to particular students and classrooms, etc.
    • the primary contact for responding to the needs of enrichment providers and volunteers
    • at the program site.
    • helps them to feel welcomed and able to operate as members of the program team.
    • Directly supervises all program staff:
    • incorporates ongoing staff trainings and makes appropriate grade level and enrichment
    • assignments that are consistent with staff skills and their capacity to effectively lead
    • students.
    • collaboration to assure that services/supports provided are operating effectively including
    • transportation, food service and facilities.
    • Monitor and comply with Michigan child care licensing regulations for compliance to maintain quality standards

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
    • Possess the necessary requirements to be a program director in accordance with Michigan Child Care Licensing including educational experience a child related field (human services, education, health or related areas) with significant relevant experience in serving school-aged children and families.
    • Experience effectively supervising a team and summer program experiences desirable.
    • High degree of organizational skills and the ability to work independently with limited supervision and a demonstrated capacity to manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
    • Above average interpersonal relationship skills with diverse stakeholders—staff, students, parents, service providers, volunteers—and the ability to problem-solve, reassure and communicate in circumstances that may be pressured and demanding.
    • Understands and embraces all forms of diversity and inclusiveness in thought, word and exemplifies these values in actions.
    • Exceptional communication skills—listening, speaking, writing, interpreting and transmitting complex instructions to others.
    • Experience with personal computers and proficiency in using word processing, data management, internet, email and spreadsheets.
    • Knowledge and experience with a wide range of community resources to meet student/family needs.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, integrity and knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.
    Salary: $19.00/hour - $23.00/hour (dependong on licensing qualification)
