Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Primary purpose is to help students develop skills, behaviors, and habits that contribute to student success outcomes. In order to promote success, services will include: goal setting, learning strategies, time management and organization, self-regulation and self-efficacy, creation of a learning plan, providing information on counseling, financial, and social assistance programs, and reviewing post-school goals to create a "college and beyond" plan. This is a temporary, grant-funded position. Continuation of the position from one academic year to the next is dependent upon continued grant funding.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to adjust plans, techniques, timelines, and goals in order to meet individual students' needs
- Ability to collect and analyze various forms of student data (assessments, grades, soft skills and academic functioning, etc.) in order to match support and develop effective techniques
- Strong attention to accuracy and detail for tracking student success and student educational plans
- Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of students
- Commitment to quality student service
- Ability and commitment to work collaboratively
- Ability to work independently with little direction or continuous supervision
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Schedule will depend on department needs
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Transcripts and/or a proficiency test may be required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
- Level III Tutor Certification
- Experience with case-management
- Spanish fluency
- Previous academic coaching or mentoring experience
Salary
Hiring salary range is $48,152-55,375.
