Job Description

General tasks and responsibilities will include:
Scope: Under supervision of the Senior SUD Education SW Supervisor, the SUD Education SW Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of SUD education team including Peer III and Addiction Counselor II. The SUD Education SW Supervisor will provide supervisory and advisory services that include skill-based training, stigma change, care coordination workflows, quality improvement, and tracking of all work related to the SUD Workforce Training Initiative.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Provides clinical and administrative supervision to the educational team
  • Work with Senior SUD education SW Supervisor to improve the SUD training curriculum and materials based on feedback from individual sites
  • Educate, clarify, and reinforce learning and application of evidence-based SUD/clinical practices in a variety of clinical settings, primarily in outpatient clinics (OMH and OASAS) and in the emergency department
  • Coordinate with site supervisor(s) to develop individualized curricula including but not limited to workshops, didactics, role playing, workflow implementation, and quality improvement
  • Monitor and oversees team's progress qualitatively and quantitatively and reports back to Senior SUD Education SW Supervisor
  • Collaborate with other SUD Education SW Supervisor to develop and facilitate best practices
  • Conducts monthly reporting by working with staff to document and track deliverables
  • Completes performance reviews for team
  • Provides orientation to new staff and updates incumbent staff of changes in policy, procedures, or standards.
  • Oversees trainee's time and leave schedules to ensure patient continuity of care and compliance with network policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties assigned by supervisor as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
1. Valid license as an LCSW issued by the NYSED and one (1) year of supervisory experience utilizing casework, group work and/or community organization methodologies.

  • Able to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
  • Knowledgeable on advanced behavioral interventions such as CBT, DBT as well as motivational interviewing, harm reduction amongst others
  • Knowledge of hospital and community resources.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources Standards, Rules and Regulations
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care and discharge planning regulations.
  • Knowledge of Substance Use/Abuse: behaviors, interventions and resources.
  • Knowledge of Child Abuse and Neglect: how to identify and report.
  • Knowledge of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault/Rape, and Elder Abuse
  • Knowledge of screening and assessments for substance use and mental health care
  • Knowledge of NYC DOHMH and NYS OMH/OASAS guidelines
