JOB DESCRIPTION:
Professional Day and Orientation: July 1&2, 2024

Program Dates : July 8, 2024 - August 2, 2024

Location : Virtual Learning Program

Mode l: Virtual
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct orientation/instruction ONLINE
  
• Provide instruction for students in the identified social studies curriculum
  
• Provide differentiation of instructional content based on the needs of individual students
  
• Support students during Open Lab times
  
• Participate in planning and professional learning before summer school
  
• Collaborate with staff regarding implementation of instruction, use of assessments and assessment results
  
• Development and implementation of differentiated curriculum
  
• Communicate with students and parents regarding course progress
  

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with students from diverse backgrounds
  
• Experience with personalized learning strategies
  
• Experience teaching social studies and/or economics and personal finance courses
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Social Studies Secondary Certification
  
• Willingness to work as a team in planning for instruction, grouping students and administering pre- and post assessments based on SOL requirements
  

• Willingness to participate in curriculum planning and professional learning prior to the beginning of summer school
  

Additional Preferred Qualifications for Virtual Teachers:

• Evidence of completed coursework in online instruction
  
• Experience in delivering online instruction
  
• Ability to work a flexible school day
  
• WISE Certification

Summer School Teachers who are APS employees during the year will be paid the hourly rate or $35.52 per hour., whichever is higher. (Please note Salary earned relative to summer school employment will not be included in the employee's creditable compensation amount reported to the Virginia Retirement System (VRS).) Retired APS teachers will be paid $47.73 per hour per APS pay plan. Non-APS licensed summer school teachers will be paid $35.52 per hour.
