Job Duties

The Supervising Deputy Clerk (Grade 12) is responsible for the direct supervision of employees in a high-volume office that provides extensive support to four Judges and the Clerk of Court. The Supervisor will work closely with the Clerk and Chief Deputy Clerk to ensure the office is ran properly. The Supervisor ensures instructions are executed and that legal papers are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with appropriate policies/procedures and ensures that all deadlines are met. The Supervisor will train and audit work; evaluate performance; interview/select employees; participate in court improvement projects; delegate and participate in operational responsibilities; aid staff within the assigned unit by delegating tasks, preparing schedules, updating leave, and all other duties as assigned by management. The Supervisor must maintain a high level of performance standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable/substantial court experience is required. Must have strong organizational and planning skills, strong public relation skills and strong decision-making capabilities. Must be able to coordinate and direct a diversified range of personnel. Must possess advanced customer service experience in dealing with the public, external agencies, attorney firms and other courts. A high degree of judgement, understanding, and tact is required to communicate and interact with internal and external contacts. Competitive applicants must demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Candidates having proficiency in using computer systems, advanced experience with Case Management System (JCMS) and Financial Management System (FAS), Microsoft applications, and money handling experience is required. A high school degree or equivalent is required.

Additional Considerations

Knowledge of judicial or regulatory requirements that affect court operations and case processing activities is preferred.
