The salary for this position is $66,560.00 to $79,389.00, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education and skills. This range is based on a full-time schedule.

**This is an on-site role based at LAX**



Key Responsibilities:

  • Reduce liability for all areas of absence management to achieve shared business and operational goals
  • Lead and reduce sick leave for union represented Customer Service and Ramp employees
  • Track and review all absences daily to resolve level of disciplinary actions required
  • Meet with employees and shop stewards to discuss attendance policies
  • Work with the centralized Employee Service Center about leaves of absence and other issues
  • Conduct Investigative Review Hearings for proposed separations and deliver discipline as necessary
  • Handle attendance recognition programs
  • Develop strong relationships with numerous work groups
  • Work closely with union representatives
  • Engage with Human Resource representatives and other key departments to ensure consistent interpretation of Federal and State labor laws, and application of company policy
  • Communicate with Human Resources, union and department leaders on policy and employee issues
  • Work with Payroll and Scheduling departments to create processes for communicating employee absences and payroll concerns
  • Use analytical skills to analyze trends and develop recommendations for improvements
  • Provide analytical data on absences
  • Create presentation decks about analyses completed to quickly get management up to speed on key issues
  • Assist with Resource Planning

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • High School Diploma GED/Education Equivalent
  • Two (2) years of operations or similar relevant work experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of leadership in a fast paced goal driven environment
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to analyze large volumes of data
  • Ability to develop process and strategies to handle costs associated with absences
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
  • United will consider applicants with criminal histories consistent with the Fair Chance Ordinance


What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree
  • CISSP, CISA, or CISM
  • At least two to four years' experience leading a team
  • Knowledge and experience working with Workers Comp statutes
  • Experience working within a union environment
  • CBA discipline and dispute resolution/ grievance process
  • Strong knowledge of Airport Operations functions
  • Thorough Knowledge of operational and corporate policies and procedures
  • Generalist background with broad knowledge of employment labor laws (California Labor Laws a plus), organizational planning, employee relations, training and development
