This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY CIVIL ENGINEER (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T5909500 and is part of the FL CFMO, National Guard.

Duties

As a SUPERVISORY CIVIL ENGINEER, GS-0810-12, you will supervise three or more subordinates consisting of Civil Engineers, Architects, or Engineering Technicians. Select or recommend employee selection for positions under his/her direct control. Prepare performance standards, and formally appraise work of subordinates. Responsible for reviewing, accepting or amending work of subordinates, and rejecting work not meeting established performance standards. Actively support and promote EEO, Upward Mobility, and other special emphasis personnel programs. Maintain an effective position management program, and on an annual basis, review subordinate position descriptions to ensure positions are operating as intended and that duties and responsibilities are adequately reflected. Initiate personnel actions such as promotions, reassignments, and performance recognitions. Approve and disapprove leave. Receive complaints and grievances and resolves those which can be informally resolved, and/or makes recommendation for resolution to appropriate deciding official.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title 5, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)", and is open to current on-board (Tenure 1, 2 and 3) US Federal employees interested in helping the Department of the Army meet our mission requirements as a Supervisory Civil Engineer. You must upload your most SF 50 to be considered.

PCS:Permanent Change of Station (PCS) MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

FLNG BUS Code 8888: This position is "excluded" and ineligible for labor organization representation.

POSITIVE EDUCATION: A degree in professional engineering is required; you must possess one of the following. A degree earned from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation board for Engineering and Technology.

OR

A degree earned which includes differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced that first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) Strength of materials (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (E) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such a optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

NOTE: Must possess evidence of having successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination, or the current registration as a professional engineer by any State.

NOTE:Engineer intern and engineer in training does not meet the selective factor professional registration requirement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-12 Must have at least one year of specialized experiences at the GS-11 level or the equivalent which provides knowledge and/or experience, education, or training for management, supervision, or performance of planning, designing, construction, and/or maintaining structures and facilities; and investigating, measuring, surveying, and mapping the earth's physical features; experience in managing the function of work to be performed; experience that includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

Education
