Duties

This position is located under the Office of Public and Governmental Affairs, Public Affairs Division in Washington, District of Columbia.

As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist GS-1035-15 your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serves as Chief, Public Affairs Division
  • Assisting the Assistant Director in developing, planning, organizing, and directing public affairs programs of the Bureau.
  • Advisor to the Assistant Director, and the Deputy Assistant Director for PGA on matters pertaining to the effective dissemination of information through the appropriate mass communications media.

Qualifications

To qualify for GS-15 candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14.

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized experience include:

  • Apply knowledge of Public Affairs principles, methods, practices and techniques; AND
  • Provide analytical methods of communication in order to function as a technical authority when engaging in liaison activities with the media and the general public; AND
  • Serve as an advisor to key executives and media issues.
