The Role
Power semiconductors are not only the critical components in all Tesla products including vehicles and energy storage offerings, but these components are also the backbone of the global energy transition mission to clean alternatives. The Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Power Semiconductor role is created to help Tesla innovate together with various semiconductor powerhouses to bring higher performance, more reliable, more scalable high-power semiconductor solutions to the world.

Responsibilities
  • Work cross functionally with design and reliability engineering team, understand the system level requirement and analyze the component level performance to be able to meet those
  • Work with manufacturers on component development and lead resolutions to achieve mass production
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams on integrating new Si, SiC, and GaN solutions to vehicle and energy applications
  • Spearhead Root cause analysis and permanent countermeasures with the manufacturer, direct the cross functional team of engineers, GSMs and QE with appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Work with OSATs to design in new custom packaging solutions from concept to production
  • Monitor, Audit, assess and oversee the supplier's yield and equipment performance very minutely and take appropriate actions to predict and resolve excursions
  • Lead failure analysis investigation on factory and field component failures
  • Assess Supplier's PFMEA and manufacturing process controls, drive continuous improvement and monitor Supplier Production Capacity (Operations management)


Requirements
  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering/Material Science/Physics plus 4 years of professional working experience or equivalent experience
  • Understands Statistical Process Control, demonstrates experience of enhancing SPC programs and has solid knowledge of statistical analysis
  • Has experience of failure analysis and material analysis techniques - SEM/EDX, TEM, XRF, XRD, CSAM, spectrum analyzer, etc.
  • Detailed understanding of JEDEC, AEC-Q, RoHS and IPC and other such standards/requirements
  • Understands applications of Cpk, GR&Rs and process qualification methodologies
  • Domestic and international travel (expected 25% of the time) is required to engage with suppliers, sometimes on short notice
  • Preferred: QMS Qualification experience

    • Expected Compensation

      $80,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
