Position Summary

The Support Services Aide - Dietary performs a variety of food services, including obtaining orders, meal preparation, cooking and serving food to residents, employees and visitors, clean-up, and stocking the kitchen and food preparation areas. They are responsible for the cleanliness of their work area and for safe and sanitary handling of food, equipment and supplies. The Support Services Aide - Dietary will follow all safety guidelines in accordance with current rules and regulations and adhere to appropriate precautions/techniques in the Dietary Services Department in regard to hazardous chemicals, blood and body fluids, medical waste and/or equipment.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Assists in demonstrating new products and cleaning techniques as necessary
  • Assists in the orientation and training of dietary department personnel
  • Assures that work area/department is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner, and reports safety concerns.
  • Cleans and stores equipment properly at the end of shift
  • Daily cleaning is performed in accordance with rules and regulations, as well as district policy
  • Disposes of refuse daily in accordance with established sanitation procedures
  • Handle food in accordance with sanitary regulations
  • Keeps Manager of Support Services informed of supply needs
  • Maintain current food handlers card
  • Maintains census records and other required forms/paperwork
  • Maintains knowledge on the use and storage of all chemicals/products used in the dietary department
  • Makes only authorized substitutions to meals
  • Operates all equipment in the dietary department according to established policies and procedures; reports any equipment failures or misuse to Manager of Dietary Services
  • Performs regular inspections to assure clean and sanitary conditions are maintained
  • Plans cooking schedule to have foods ready on time
  • Prepares palatable food, appetizing in appearance
  • Prepares requested foods for employees and guests
  • Prepares servings according to requirements
  • Regularly checks temperature of walk-in freezer, freezers, refrigerators, dishwasher, food and resident trays
  • Serves food at the proper food temperature
  • Serves only foods specified by written modified diet lists
  • Sets up resident trays properly
  • Sweep and wet mop floors, when necessary, daily and clean spills when they happen
  • Takes resident meal orders in a courteous manner
  • Takes residents meal orders daily, as requested
Education, Experience & Certification/Licensure

Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must obtain a Food Handlers Card within 30 days of hire
