THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC T32, Position Description Number PDD1194000 and is part of the AZ G4, National Guard.

Duties

There are multiple vacancies located at the following locations: CSMS, FMS1 & FMS7 Phoenix, Maricopa, AZ; FMS6 Bellemont, Coconino, AZ; FMS4 & UTES Florence, Pinal, AZ; FMS3 Marana, Pinal, AZ and FMS8 Tucson, Pima, AZ. The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment.

  • ARIZONA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Army National Guard.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Applicants must possess or be able to gain and maintain access to all required systems and the AZ-ARNG Network. This position requires constant domain access.

  • Irregular (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Duty location will be determined by applicant city location selection and maintenance facility manning needs. Applicant's shop will be determined by selecting official.

  • Hourly Rate of Pay for WG-08; Phoenix, Maricopa, AZ $28.87 - $33.68; Bellemont, Coconino, AZ $27.01 - $31.50; Florence, Pinal, AZ $28.87 - $33.68; Marana, Pinal, AZ $28.87 - $33.68; Tucson, Pima, AZ $25.68 - $29.95
  • Hourly Rate of Pay for WG-10; Phoenix, Maricopa, AZ $32.53 - $37.96; Bellemont, Coconino, AZ $30.92 - $36.05; Florence, Pinal, AZ $32.53 - $37.96; Marana, Pinal, AZ $32.53 - $37.96; Tucson, Pima, AZ $28.68 - $33.40
  • FMS 6 currently restricted to the rank of SSG/E6.
  • Rank availability dependent on shop. Maximum rank may be lower based on specific shop requirements.
  • Must possess and maintain a State and Military Driver License. This position requires a valid and unrestricted (not included glasses) state issued drivers license.

Qualifications

Military Grades: PVT/E-1 - WO1/W-1

Compatible Military Assignments: 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 88, 91, 92, or 94 MOS Series

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

WG-08:
Must have 12 months experience or training using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs. Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories. Experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.

WG-10: Must have 18 months Experience or training diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems.

4. Skill to use a wide variety of test and diagnostics equipment to perform fault isolation and conduct repair of combat, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles and equipment.

5. Ability to utilize, interpret and apply parts list, manufacturer's repair manuals, technical manuals, diagrams, engineering drawings, diagnostic computer information, and schematics.
