Job Summary and Qualifications

The Surgical Services Manager of Business Operations, reports directly to the Admin Director of Surgical Services. The Manager of Business Operations strategically leads the operational processes to achieve/exceed growth and financial targets and maximize operational synergies. Primary responsibilities will include financial analysis and reporting, value analysis for prioritization of resources, strategic management of the scheduling team, relationship development with physician/physician practices, optimization of operational and system design and implementation to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders and optimization of the billing and reimbursement functions.

The ideal candidate would be a self-starter, effective and impactful leader, relational, customer service oriented, proficient with data analysis, organized, able to manage multiple priorities, effective at execution and process improvement, attentive to detail, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The Department of Surgery includes Pre-Surgical Testing, Outpatient Surgery, Operating Rooms, PACU, ENDO, Anesthesia, Scheduling, Charge Capture, Analyst and Central Sterile.

  • You will create a reporting portfolio and roadmap to drive growth, clinical success and operational efficiency.
  • You will provide analytical insights into complex patient and operational data
  • You will advocate for the translation of business intelligence into hospital operations. You will track, monitor and report on quantifiable impacts of implemented solutions.
  • You will champion change management and drive action in collaboration with relevant team members.
  • You will monitor the competitive and environmental landscape of healthcare innovation and identifies emerging opportunities for new initiatives and partnerships.
  • You will assist the Surgical Services leadership to develop and monitor departmental budgets to achieve desired outcomes.
  • You will prepare and submit annual capital, personnel, revenue and expense budgets annually to the Admin Director of Surgical Services for approval.
  • You will analyze statistical data and provide information and written reports to the Admin Director of Surgical Services as well as other departmental and executive leadership.
  • You will develop and implement ongoing strategies to contain costs as identified by the Admin Director of Surgical Services.
  • You will review payroll and labor distribution on a monthly basis and reports variances to the Admin Director of Surgical Services.
  • You will identify Departmental variances from budget projections by reviewing daily operating reports.
  • You will identify productivity within acceptable benchmarks and provide suggestions for action plans to the Admin Director of Surgical Services and department leaders, in a timely manner
  • You will oversee departmental bi-weekly payroll.


What qualifications you will need:
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • 5+ years of experience in an acute care hospital setting
