Your job duties in a nutshell:

Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Ensures suite is adequately prepared for procedure.

What you must have to apply:

*Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology.
*One (1) year of experience in an operating room.

*NBSTA Certification required.

*BLS (American Heart Association)

Your role and responsibilities:

Prepares room appropriately with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.
Follows strict aseptic technique when opening, setting up, scrubbing and preparing for procedures.
Assures OR suite is prepared at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled time, unless otherwise directed.
Assists in positioning, prepping and draping of patients for surgical procedures.
Accurately completes operating room counts (instruments, sponges, needles), follows proper procedure in the event of incorrect counts, reports all discrepancies to entire surgical team and attempts to reconcile or corrects immediately.
Maintains an orderly/sterile instrument field for efficiency following department standard set-up.
Anticipates surgeon's needs during procedure.
Receives specimens from surgeon and assists nurse with documentation.
Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures, checks PAR levels and restocks accordingly.
Returns supplies not used in procedure.
Follows written procedures for steam sterilization and follows guidelines necessity for chemical and biological monitoring.

Performs other duties as assigned.
