Project/Unit Description

The Electronic Warfare (EW) Test and Evaluation (T&E) Researcher in the Test Engineering (TEN) Division will research the testing of EW and Avionics Systems to assist with the development of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) test systems. These HITL test systems provide high fidelity simulation and stimulation of real-time Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR), Radio Frequency (RF) and avionics environments for testing aircraft systems. These test environments incorporate EW engagement models, use of government and industry test standards, open standards definition, and usage of automated test frameworks.

Job Purpose

The Systems Engineer oversees and coordinates the work of technical teams on systems projects, ensuring the successful design, implementation, operation, and technical management of those projects. Taking a holistic approach to systems engineering, the Systems Engineer ensures that all aspects of a system project are considered and addressed. The Systems Engineer works closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and then develops and documents technical requirements that meet those needs. The Systems Engineer leads the design team in developing a system architecture that meets all of the requirements. After the system is designed, the Systems Engineer oversees the implementation of the system, working with the implementation team to ensure that it meets all of the requirements. Once the system is deployed, the Systems Engineer manages the technical aspects of the system, including monitoring performance, troubleshooting problems, and making improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create product or system definitions and conduct initial requirements analysis
  • Contribute to technical reports and diagrams detailing product or system attributes
  • Analyze product or system functionality as defined by requirements
  • Interface with and begin to work with disparate engineering teams for technical tasking


Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program relevant to this position with an expected graduation date no later than December 31, 2024 will be considered
  • Experience with the design, integration, and testing of electronic systems


Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Ability to code in Python and/or C++
  • Ability to perform CAD modeling (electrical and/or mechanical)
  • Experience with EW, radar, and avionics systems architecture, function, and interface
  • Experience with relevant aircraft communication interfaces, such as MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet, serial, discrete, and analog interfaces
  • Experience with hardware and software system troubleshooting
  • Experience with hardware and software development and testing in a laboratory environment
  • Experience with test instrumentation such as Oscilloscopes and Spectrum Analyzers
