We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer - Gateway HALO FCS to join our team with teammate company, Nexus Solutions.

Objective:

Systems Engineer for the development of the Habitation systems and hardware for the Gateway vehicle and Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) module

The Habitation Systems Engineer, as part of the Gateway Crew Systems management team will:
  • Perform, review, and present architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall design and performance
  • Perform requirements decomposition and develop requirements for Level 3 (Habitation and Logistics module)
  • Develop verification and validation plans and statements
  • Develop interface control documents
  • Review and provide comments on program documentation
  • Support trade studies or assessments on crew equipment, such as stowage containers, inventory management, etc.
  • Present to Gateway Program management, Johnson Space Center division management and chief engineers
  • Coordinate with other Gateway system management teams including power, environmental control and life support, crew health and performance, etc.
  • Coordinate with other programs including Orion and the Human Lander System
  • Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues and for support
  • May support various Advanced Exploration System (AES) Logistics Reduction (LR) projects. Examples include advanced clothing technologies, trash compaction, autonomous RFID inventory management, and others
  • Perform other duties as required


Requisition Qualifications:

Requisition Qualifications:
  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Experience with the development of space systems requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteria
  • Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space systems including Habitation
  • Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design of software and tools
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and assess project needs
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products

Requisition Preferences:
  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
  • Experience with spacecraft habitation systems
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience with Systems Engineering processes and techniques

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
