Wytheville Community College is seeking to fill the position of High School Outreach Coordinator. This position assists students with reaching their educational and career goals by (a) providing curriculum-approved workshops in schools and virtually and (b) developing and assisting in implementing out-of-school activities that enhance their understanding of different professional fields. In addition, the position includes recruiting participants for project services and maintaining participant files on services provided. This position is part of the Talent Search Grant and is restricted. Continued employment year-to-year would depend on grant funds.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work, or higher education;
Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills;
Ability to work with low-income potential first-generation college students;
Professional/personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to the ones confronting project participants;
Professional experience in pre-college programs or similar programs;
Knowledge and/or advocacy experience with disadvantaged communities; and
Able to work independently with target school contacts and community.
Preferred Qualifications:

Previous Talent Search or TRiO experience; and
Higher Education experience
