Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Manager in Dallas, TX.

Work You'll Do

Assess existing systems and develop new (or enhance existing) systems to streamline and accelerate processes and procedures. Identify processes and procedures that are repetitive, tedious, and inefficient and seek ways to streamline, eliminate, or automate. Advise on technologies and legacy enhancements and build out the applications and platforms. Work with and present directly to clients as the technical expert, joining technology and tax technical experience, to explain the technology aspects of our offering, and address questions from stakeholders and end-users. Assist in developing custom data analysis technology to address client-specific problems and provide technical expertise (both tax and data/technology) and normalize and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data by developing and engineering applications using SQL, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, Python, VBA and other applications. Responsible for the development and motivation of staff and for providing leadership, counseling and guidance. Prepare and oversee project budget, milestones, deliverables and change requests for various Multistate Tax - Data & Technology projects.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Three years as a Tax Manager or related occupation gaining experience developing and enhancing tax technology solutions to streamline business procedures and processes.
  • Experience must include three years of:
    • Implementing data-related projects, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), process automation, data analytics, data wrangling, and data visualization;
    • Engineering custom scripting solutions to automate manual workpaper reporting processes through use of programming languages, including VBA, Java, C#, C, and C++, and web technologies, including HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, and Google Scripting;
    • Developing application solutions and platforms to address client specific data technology issues and architecting data product strategy roadmaps through the use of engineering solutions;
    • Analyzing information reporting and tax compliance data to resolve discrepancies, and preparing analytical reports and documentation using MS Excel and data technologies, including MS SQL Server, Oracle PL/SQL, and Search Processing Language, to assist clients with tax form reporting;
    • Utilizing reporting tools, including Alteryx Designer, Microsoft Power BI, and R, to perform process automation for reporting, including performing workflow automation for tax client needs;
    • Working closely with tax compliance teams to gather requirements and understand nuances of property tax compliance, collaborating with IT teams to integrate automated solutions into existing ERP systems, performing UAT testing and quality assurance measures to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of automated processes, implementing data analytics for data cleansing, and leading client-specific developments;
    • Assisting clients with meeting statutory filing deadlines and identifying and automating refund opportunities and processes, including applying data transformation and processing for unclaimed property and value-added excise tax analytics for compliance timelines, reporting and consulting;
    • Interacting directly with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, to gather data to support project objectives, presenting technical aspects of platform offerings to address business needs from stakeholders and end-users, and utilizing tax technology solutions and tax technical expertise to assist clients and engagement teams;
    • Working with Sales and Use Tax engagement teams to assist with both tax technical analysis and technology automation for refund reviews; and
    • Collaborating cross-functionally with engagement teams to understand Lookback Review requirements and develop effective automation strategies to incorporate suggested enhancements by gathering feedback and requirements for continuous improvement and enhancement of the Lookback Review automation, and collaborating with IT teams to integrate automated solutions into existing systems.
