About the Employer

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County's most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary

ACCESS is a public, WASC-accredited educational program offering a variety of unique school options serving students throughout Orange County from Transitional Kindergarten (TK) to adults seeking to complete their high school education. Our program is committed to educating the whole student through the use of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). This approach is designed to meet the academic and socio-emotional needs of our students to prepare them for successful transitions to college and career. We are seeking passionate and dedicated Teachers to join our Alternative Education Division within the ACCESS program. Our division serves diverse student populations referred by local school districts, probation, and social services. As a Teacher, you will plan and deliver instruction in various settings, including Community-Based Programs for at-promise youth, educational services for incarcerated students in juvenile institutions, and support for families in non-traditional education models like the Community Home Education Program (CHEP) and Pacific Coast High School (PCHS). Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Recent experience working in alternative educational settings or charter schools teaching at-promise students preferred. • A Bachelor's or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements: • Possession and maintenance of a valid California teaching credential authorizing instruction in the subject area of Social Science at all levels of curriculum in a departmentalized setting. Intern-eligible candidates are welcome to apply, with priority given to fully credentialed applicants. • Meet the Basic Skills Requirement through one of the methods listed on Form CL-667 on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website - www.ctc.ca.gov. English Learner (EL) Authorization: All new teachers hired under a Preliminary or Clear credential must possess authorization to provide instruction for English Language Development (ELD) and Specially Designed Academic Instruction Delivered in English (SDAIE) to English learners. Appropriate credentials include Single Subject Credential with English Learner authorization; CLAD (Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development) or BCLAD (Bilingual Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development) authorizations; or Certificate of Completion of Staff Development (AB2913/SB395 training).
