We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Technology Development Engineer in Houston, Texas. This position will support the fundamental development of a wide variety of technology concepts and projects that are a focus of Low Carbon Ventures and its partners.
The Technology Development Engineer will be responsible for scaling-up laboratory processes to pilot and commercial scales by developing and implementing kinetic models for process transition and optimization. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead the scale-up of laboratory processes to pilot and commercial scales.
- Develop and implement kinetic models for chemical reactions, including reaction mechanisms, rate constants, and reaction pathways.
- Utilize computational tools and software to simulate and optimize chemical processes.
- Design and execute experiments to validate kinetic models and optimize process parameters.
- Identify critical process variables and develop strategies for process control.
- Work closely with experimental groups to translate new product concepts into scalable processes.
- Apply expertise in various reactor types, including fixed-bed, plug-flow, and fluidized-bed reactors to address challenges related to process scalability, safety, and efficiency.
- Optimize reactor design and operation parameters for efficient and safe production.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations during scale-up activities.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures.
- Collaborate with engineers, chemists, and production teams to troubleshoot process issues and to ensure seamless process transitions.
- Provide technical support during pilot and commercial production phases.

Qualifications
Education:
- PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Ability to work in the United States a must.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in process development and scale-up with a proven track record of successfully transitioning processes from the laboratory scale to pilot and commercial production.
- Proficiency in kinetic modeling using software tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, COMSOL, MATLAB).
- Experience in new technology development, applying data to contemplate new theories and approaches, and using innovation to drive to commercial success.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of chemical reaction kinetics and thermodynamics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Effective communication and project management skills.
- Possesses a collaborative nature and actively participates in teams; actively seeks continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices and procedures.
