The Department of Computer Science seeks a temporary technology specialist who will collect, transform and analyze data and monitor industry trends in emerging technology to develop roadmaps, produce academic papers to be presented at conferences. This position completes data mining and optimized database modules and system components.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • A four year degree and one year of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and/or related experience.
  • Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with 18 hours of discipline-focused master level course work
  • Experience in university/college setting
  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, problem solving, effective organizational skills, and detail orientation
  • Must exhibit cultural competence and possess a broad understanding of student academic, developmental, and social needs
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Ph.D. in Technology Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Marine Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technology roadmapping, innovation, and strategic planning.
  • Strong background in cybersecurity, particularly in maritime applications.
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality research and academic publications.
  • Experience teaching at the university level and mentoring students.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software such as Tableau, SPSS , STATA , SAS , R, or Python.
  • Experience in technology forecasting, multi-criteria decision-making, and operation research.
  • Knowledge of social network analysis and text mining/analytics.

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment.
