A&M University ( http://vetmed.tamu.edu/vtpb ), invites applications for a full-time, 11-month tenure track faculty

position in veterinary parasitology. This appointment will be at the rank of associate professor.

The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will include teaching at the professional, undergraduate,

and graduate levels, serving as the Director of the Parasitology Diagnostic Laboratory and establishing a robust

research program that supports the training of graduate students and postdocs. As Director, the duties will include ensuring that the procedures of the laboratory are followed, the lab runs smoothly, attracting clients to the laboratory, and that the lab is financially stable and self-sufficient. The parasitology diagnostic service supports both the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and opportunities exist to support other veterinarians through the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, which is located on the University campus.

Participation in laboratory training for undergraduate/graduate students and veterinary residents or postdoctoral associates is essential. Service is expected to include departmental, college, university committees and with professional organizations, editorial or grant review teams, and consultations with other appropriate research projects and organizations.

The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology includes over 45 faculty members and is one of five academic departments in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. Scholarly activities of faculty are diverse, and teaching occurs at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional level. Research strengths in the college include Infectious Diseases and Biodefense; Epidemiology and Public Health; Biomedical Genomics; Neuroscience; Toxicology; Reproductive Biology. The Department strongly encourages collaborative research activity and is a role model for "One Health" through its research affiliations with a variety of sister institutions, including the Texas A&M Health Science Center, the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, MD Anderson Cancer Center, the Texas Children's Hospital, the Texas Heart Institute, and the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a D.V.M. (or equivalent) degree and a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree in parasitology.

Applicants must have a diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists (ACVM). The successful

applicant must possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills and a demonstrated ability to work with

others in a collegial team atmosphere.
