Florida State University College of Medicine (FSU COM) seeks to fill a tenure-track full-time faculty position at the rank of either Assistant, Associate, or Professor in the Department of Family Medicine & Rural Health. We are expanding our research programs focused on community-partnered clinical/translational research. We seek candidates with an established or developing program of research utilizing Community-Based Participatory Research or related community-partnered approaches such as patient-centered outcomes research.

FSU COM has a focused mission of training patient-centered physicians devoted to the needs of rural, underserved, minority, and elderly populations. Candidates whose work aligns with the FSU COM mission and who engage with underrepresented and/or medically underserved populations are especially encouraged to apply. As a community-based medical school, FSU COM is particularly well-suited for conducting research in primary care and community settings. Importantly, there are rich opportunities for intra-departmental and intra-college collaborations, particularly including FSU COM's Department of Behavioral Science and Social Medicine and FSU's College of Nursing. There will also be opportunities for new clinical research teams within the FSU Health academic health center ( https://fsuhealth.fsu.edu/ ), scheduled to open in 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining an independent line of community-engaged research that attracts significant extramural grant support.
  • Serving as a research mentor for clinical faculty in the department.
  • Writing papers for professional journals, and serving on various committees that support the curricular, research, and other functions of the department, the college, and the university.
  • Teaching medical and/or physician assistant students.
  • Opportunities for outpatient clinical practice are available.

Qualifications

  • Terminal degree (PhD, MD, DrPH or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated record of achievement in research, teaching, and service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record of excellence in community-engaged research.
  • Proven record of research success which includes a record of extramural research funding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration and partnerships.
  • Demonstrated success in building and sustaining interdisciplinary research teams.
  • Excellent mentoring and teaching skills, which are highly valued as critical contributors to our mission of training the next generation of healthcare professionals and scientists.
