SAIC is seeking a talented Test Engineer to support NSWC Crane and the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) Hypersonic weapons system program. Position itself is located at the Washington DC Navy Yard.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

In this role, the candidates will assist the Government National Team (GNT) in all flight test planning, coordination, and post mission activities, working closely with top program leadership and a variety of other agencies and stakeholders (service agencies, contractors, government national labs, warfare centers). Candidates will help facilitate coordination and integration between CPS Program Office leadership and staff, their counterparts at Prime Contractor sites, and other National Team sites in support of test activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Technical and administrative support to the CPS SPC5 Test and Evaluation (T&E) functional branch.
  • Help prepare test execution estimates for submission to Financial and Contracts team.
  • Progress monitoring and reporting. Candidate will provide weekly status reporting directly to the CPS Major Program Manager (MPM), Deputy Major Program Manager (DMPM), and Technical Director (TD).
  • Organization and participation in all technical and readiness reviews for Army and Navy flight tests, including technical working groups.
  • Collaboration with all stakeholder groups to determine and communicate test requirements.
  • Preparation and delivery of briefings for Flight Test Coordination Working Groups.
  • Support for range coordination and planning activities, including range safety working groups.
  • Support for CPS Mission Architecture and Baseline Management meetings and activities.
  • Support for development of test documentation, plans and procedures.
  • Support for post mission and test data analysis.
Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Aerospace Engineering Degree preferred) and four (4) years experience; Masters and three (3) years experience.
  • Ability to work cross-organization coordination efforts and engage directly with senior DoD personnel and industry executives.
  • Strong oral presentation and written communication skills. Candidate will need to lead high-level working group meetings and deliver briefings to top program leadership.
  • Understanding of DoD T&E process with 2+ years DoD T&E experience
  • Practical flight test engineering experience spanning range coordination, test planning and reporting
  • Ability to design an appropriate test; produce a test plan and subsequent amendments; and present & obtain approval of that test plan through a series of reviews, including Range Safety meetings, test readiness reviews, etc, for a highly complex, integrated system or high risk test project.
  • Knowledge & understanding of the flight scheduling processes and procedures, including airspace, frequency allocation, chase aircraft requirements and usage.
  • Knowledge & understanding of applicable requirements documents, such as the Capability Development Document (CDD) and Capability Production Document (CPD) and understanding that the test must be planned and designed so that results are relatable to CDD & CPD requirements.
  • Knowledge of test instrumentation system and data acquisition systems methods, capabilities and operation.
  • Knowledge & understanding of data display requirements and the test monitoring and control facility coordination, setup and use.
  • Secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a top secret clearance.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Basic knowledge & understanding of air vehicle software, including development and qualification processes, system redundancy, and fault/failure detection & accommodation methods, and configuration control processes.
  • Skill & ability to utilize simulation, when appropriate, to predict test results, to practice test maneuvers and communication procedures, and to fine tune buildup procedures.
