Assist teachers in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements for closing the academic achievement gap in the core content areas of English, Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and/or Social Studies. Work under supervision of certified teacher. As well as assist with parental involvement on the Title I campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional Support
  • Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
  • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.


Student Management
  • Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
  • Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
  • Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.

Other
  • Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Remote Work:

This job is expected to be mostly on-site but comes with the possibility to work remotely (from home) a few days per week as determined by your supervisor.
  • Follow policies (attendance, social media, confidentiality, data protection, code of conduct) while working remotely as expected at the worksite.
  • Protect passwords
  • Follow data encryption protection standards and settings.

Equipment Used:

Copier, personal computer, and audiovisual equipment

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Use of standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals;
  • Prolonged sitting
  • Occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
  • Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 20 pounds)
  • May work prolonged or irregular hours
  • Stressful decision-making moments
  • Frequent communication with other employees and members of the public
  • Work with frequent interruptions
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Meets the ESSA Requirements:
    • Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as completion of 48 semester hours or equivalent trimester hours) of college coursework or an applicable number of semester hours as defined by the institution of higher education attended, whichever is less; or
    • Possess an associate (or higher) degree; or
    • Meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a local academic assessment
  • Current TEA issued Educational Aide Certificate - obtainable after hire ($32 fee requirement).
