Job Description

TPWD MISSION

To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction of the TPWD Inbound Mail Services section, this position is responsible for performing highly complex, (senior-level) clerical and administrative work. Duties include the timely processing of incoming mail into the TPWD Austin headquarters complex; opening and routing of agency mail and overnight deliveries as well as the timely and accurate entry of revenue receipts from received mail into the TPWD remittance tracking system. This position will also perform various courier duties associated with mail, bank, and State of Texas business functions. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.



Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Graduation from High School or GED.

Experience:

Three years of experience in clerical, administrative, or, data entry;

Two years of experience handling cash, check, money order, etc.;

Two years of experience processing mail (opening, sorting, routing, etc.) within an organization.

Licensure:

Applicant Must possess or be able to obtain and hold within 30 days of employment, a Texas class "C" driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of mail processes in a large organization;

Knowledge of cash/check handling and balancing procedures;

Knowledge of general office procedures;

Skill in using MS Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook;

Skill in effective verbal and written communication;

Skill in using standard office equipment;

Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner;

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts;

Skill in meeting deadlines;

Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records;

Ability to complete work accurately while meeting daily deadlines;

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Required to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (no telework available);

Required to work on holidays, weekends and hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. as necessary;

Required to operate a State vehicle;

Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures;

Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
