What does the job involve?

Summary: This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Import trade regulations governing Senior Aerospace SSP's business with it Mexican branch and the Export Compliance program for its sister division Spencer Aerospace. The Trade Compliance Specialist coordinates the tactical aspects of the export program at Spencer and the overall program of Imports for SSP in coordination with the Mexican branch. The Trade Compliance Specialist acts as the Subject Matter Expert in these matters for each site, in accordance with U.S. Government Regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:
  • Acts as primary point of contact for Spencer for exports and for SSP for import transactions.
  • Promoting compliance with U.S. Government Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. Treasury - Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) relating to the export of products, services, transfers of technical data, employment of foreign nationals and all other export licensing and compliance matters applicable to the Spencer facility.
  • Responsible for the HTS classification program for both sites (classify, review and maintain database).
  • Works with relevant stakeholders to determine appropriate export jurisdiction and classification of products and technologies for Spencer (built-to-print facility).
  • Conducts internal trade compliance audits and reviews related to each program for each facility.
  • Conducts USML and any other Free trade agreement analysis as required for border crossing for both sites.
  • Follow all Senior policies and procedures.
  • Other duties with the work as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or Customs Brokers License and a minimum of 3 years of experience Trade Compliance and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge/experience with ITAR, EAR, FTR, OFAC and CFR
  • Spanish not required but highly desirable.
  • Ideal candidate will have Trade Compliance experience in a multinational company, such as aerospace or defense industries.
ITAR Compliance:
  • Access to our facility (and, therefore, employment) is restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/ or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) to U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, U.S. refugees, asylees or temporary residents under amnesty provisions [as defined in 8 USC 1324b(a)(3)] and properly licensed foreign persons.Applicants receiving a conditional offer of employment will be required to provide information to determine whether they are subject to these regulations and, if so, to assess their country of chargeability for export control purposes.
