Note: This vacancy is being announced at two different job classes at the same time, Traffic Management Systems Integrator Senior, and Traffic Management Systems Integrator. The final class and starting salary are dependent on the successful applicant's qualifications.

This position ensures quality control for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Traffic Management Systems (TMS). The position is responsible for the integration of ITS devices and provides technical assistance and support to various MnDOT and external customers. Technical assistance includes testing, installing, and integrating TMS components that are MnDOT furnished materials on construction projects.

This position will work both in the field and in the office. Field work will include work in high volume traffic zones. Inspections of signs and cameras will require riding in a lift truck to a height of 50 feet.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Traffic Management Integrator Senior:

A valid MN Power Limited Technician License issued by the MN Department of Labor & Industry and experience that demonstrates:

• Experience diagnosing system problems and troubleshooting hardware and software functionalities of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) electronics such as control cabinets, closed circuit television systems, changeable message signs, transmission systems (data, video, optical and wireless), and/or vehicle detection systems.

• Experience interpreting electrical designs and/or fiber schematics for installation work and providing design recommendations.

• Experience installing and configuring digital circuitry for fiber optic and/or copper-based serial and Ethernet communication networks.

A valid class D driver's license.

Traffic Management Systems Integrator:

A valid MN Power Limited Technician License issued by the MN Department of Labor & Industry and experience that demonstrates:

Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) electronics such as control cabinets, closed circuit television systems, changeable message signs, transmission systems (data, video, optical and wireless), and/or vehicle detection systems.

A valid class D driver's license.

NOTE: A pre-placement physical examination is required for this position. Current employees who have successfully bid or are moving into a different functional work area will be required to complete the pre-employment physical exam for the area they are moving into. The scope of the physical exam will be limited to whether the employee can safely and effectively perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, in compliance with state and federal law.

Preferred Qualifications

A two-year Electronics Technology degree from an accredited institution.
