The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD ("The HARRIS CENTER") is looking for a Trainer/Educator to join our team!

Are you an enthusiastic educator with a passion for supporting disaster survivors? Join our team as a CCP Trainer/Educator, where you'll deliver essential training to community organizations and businesses. You'll utilize your strong writing and technology skills to develop, maintain, and report on key metrics to organizational entities.

Your Role in Action:
  • Training Delivery: Conduct Youth, Higher Education, and Adult Mental Health First Aid training, as well as other modules as assigned.
  • Community Engagement: Identify and schedule training sessions with community organizations and businesses, ensuring broad access to our training portfolio.
  • Certification Maintenance: Keep all training certifications up to date and relevant to community needs.
  • Reporting: Prepare and maintain regular analytical and metrics-based reports for funding and organizational entities.
  • Evaluation: Review training evaluation results and recommend updates to the Community Training Program Manager.
  • Professional Conduct: Interact harmoniously and professionally with staff and community members, demonstrating cultural sensitivity.
  • Organizational Skills: Plan, coordinate, and execute projects effectively, complying with agency policies and performance contract documentation requirements.
  • State Meetings: Attend monthly state meetings to stay informed and engaged with broader program initiatives.
  • Transportation: Maintain reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and willingness to travel throughout the county. Mileage reimbursement is provided.


What qualifications you will need:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Preferred fields: Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related behavioral fields.
  • Master's degree preferred.


Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in training and organizational/administrative support.
  • Bilingual Spanish skills preferred but not required.
  • Certification to deliver MHFA and YMHFA both virtually and in person preferred.
  • Availability to deliver training on weekends and nights if needed.


Required Knowledge, Skills/Abilities:
  • Understanding of mental illness and its impact on consumers.
  • Knowledge of a variety of community resources.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong cultural competency and ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.


Additional Requirements:

Must possess a valid driver's license, reliable insurance, and a personal vehicle suitable for fieldwork, as the position involves significant travel and field-based activities.

  • The requires travel up to 80% of the time.
  • Important Notice: This position is funded through a specific grant and is subject to the availability of these funds. The employment term is tied to the duration of the grant, which is expected to be one year.
