Duties
This position is located
in the Office of the Assistant Chief of Police, Standards and Training Operations, Training Services Bureau. The primary purpose of this position is to
provide a variety of administrative support services.
Specifically, the
incumbent's duties and responsibilities include the following:
Plans and coordinates office
support services including fact-finding and analyzing issues in accordance with
accepted office policies, precedents, organizational concepts, management
theory and occupational training. Manages internal administrative operations
which includes inventory management and record retention.
Identifies, considers, and
assists in resolving procurement and administrative problems. Reviews purchase requests. Prepares purchase
orders/requisitions and determines the method of the
purchase. Serves as the Division's liaison for securing equipment, services, and products for specialized or unique programs or office functions.
Assists with budget formulation and execution.
Serves as a point of contact to resolve time and attendance problems. Provides assistance
and/or information regarding overtime requests, leave requests, FMLA
applications, pay certification, workers' compensation paperwork, requests for
advanced leave, and similar timekeeping services.
Provides advice and guidance
on well-precedented issues.
Interprets established and pertinent regulations and organizational policies, management principles,
administrative rules, and staffing guidelines.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment
You must be a U.S. citizen.
You must be a current US Capitol Police employee.
You must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 Security Clearance.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.
For the CP-7 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of
specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-6/GS-8 level which is in
or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which
has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities
to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized
experience is defined as experience which includes:
(1) Knowledge and understanding of budget principles and processes, including procedural requirements to develop
annual budgets, request funding reallocation, and provide explanation
for impacts on other budgetary priorities.
(2) In-depth knowledge of procedures and techniques pertaining to the Workbrain
system to enter, modify, retrieve, and delete time and attendance data/information.
(3) Skill in using specialized systems, such as Workbrain and Momentum as well
as other information systems, software,
and office automation systems and products to facilitate administrative processes.

Background Investigation Must successfully complete all components of the USCP full field background investigation. There are few automatic grounds for rejection in the USCP background investigation process. Issues of misconduct, such as illegal drug use, arrests, or convictions, may not be automatically disqualifying. However, deliberate misstatements, omissions, or intentionally withholding required information at any phase of the hiring process will result in a candidate's disqualification regardless of the nature or reason for the misstatement or omission. The primary reason candidates fail a background investigation is due to deliberately withholding or omitting material facts. Providing false and/or misleading information may be grounds for removal from the application and selection process.
