General description

Join the Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company as an Investment Operations Analyst! Work involves performing advanced (senior-level) fundamental investment research and analysis work. Work involves managing the ongoing development of the agency's investment research management system (RMS), as well as coordinating (external) investment operational activities. Initially, work will primarily involve assisting in the transition from a legacy investment research management system (RMS), including implementation, internal training, and documentation of the new system. Additional investment operational work requires an understanding of the agency's various investment processes, particularly as it relates to coordination of new investments and the agency's various data sources. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in finance, accounting, mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least two years of full-time experience in investment research management or other investment operations work.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an institutional investment organization that utilizes external investments (including alternative investments such as private equity, real estate, hedge funds, and co-investments).
  • Experience using Backstop, Code Red, or other similar research management systems (e.g. Dynamo, Factset IRN, Tamale, Bypsync).
  • Experience involving managing a RMS product transition.


Certifications:

  • May be required to be registered, certified, or licensed in a specialty area.




Qualifications:

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

IRMS Responsibilities:

  • Serves as application manager for RMS. Identifies and documents requirements for system customization and enhancements.
  • Designs and configures user interfaces and custom views; creates custom fields, layouts, navigators, reports, dashboards, and other workflows.
  • Uses knowledge of investment and auditing processes to ensure the quality and completeness of research, reports and manager data added to the RMS.
  • Trains new users on the system. Creates and maintains online user guide and system documentation. Works across all departments to ensure consistent usage of the system.
  • Serves as business contact for the RMS Vendor client representatives; communicating system changes and glitches; coordinates with IT as needed during implementation.
  • Leads a user working group to develop and implement workflow and reporting functionalities; prioritizes tasks, prepares project status reports, resolves conflicts.
  • Stay abreast of RMS industry technology improvements and best practices; evaluate usability and features offered through new Research Management Software.


Fund Set-up and Reporting

  • Responsible for implementing the new fund set-up process, including coordinating, and communicating with TTSTC staff, consultants, and external service providers. Maintains record in RMS of custodian issued account identifiers and CUSIPS. Maintains strategy tagging for accounting and performance purposes.
  • Coordinates requests and compiles current and historical data from prospective managers for use in quantitative and qualitative due diligence.


Investment Data Monitoring

  • Monitors the timely receipt of monthly reports, quarterly reports and financial statements from managers and third-party administrators.
  • Reviews incoming manager update letters, completes action items or forwards to appropriate staff for handling.
  • Maintains a list mapping fund names, strategy, and account details across multiple data sources and systems. Reconciles data from external systems and coordinates with IT team to ensure quality and resolve issues.
  • Audits data provided by external sources. Gathers and distributes needed data to external providers.
  • Perform other related work as assigned.
