Job Description Summary
The College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for the inaugural program director for the Masters of Science of Pathology Assistant Studies Program. This individual will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the MSPATH curriculum as well as operational oversight of the program. Operational oversight includes maintenance of accreditation, fiscal management, and providing strategic direction of the program. This position does include a faculty clinical practice requirement.

Job Description

The PathA division is housed in the Department of Clinical Sciences, an interprofessional department that also contains Anesthesia for Nurses, Cardiovascular Perfusion, Physician Assistant Studies, Genetic Counseling, and Healthcare Studies programs. This provides opportunities for interprofessional instruction, research, and scholarship. The Program Director/Division Director reports to the Chair, Department of Clinical Sciences. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience.

The ideal candidate must:
  • hold a minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited PathA program;
  • have current certification as a Pathologist Assistant;
  • have a minimum of 3 years as a certified Pathologist Assistant;
  • have at least two years of teaching experience; and
  • be eligible to practice as a Pathologist Assistant in South Carolina.


The College seeks candidates who possess strong academic and clinical teaching experience. Excellent leadership skills, engagement in the field of pathology assistant, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential.
