Job Description Summary
Graduate Program Coordinator for the online graduate programs (MSN/DNP and PhD) in the College of Nursing. Accountable for managing student advisement, program planning, orientations, residency, databases, and statistical data needed for reporting for the College of Nursing Post-graduate Certificate, Master's and Doctor of Nursing Practice, and PhD Programs. Serves as a resource to students in all aspects of the graduate programs and works directly with the Assistant Dean for the DNP Program and Assistant Dean for the PhHD Program. Initiates, coordinates, and evaluates student recruitment, retention, and graduation activities for these programs. Manages communication efforts with all graduate program alumni and tracks data related to employment, certification, promotion, etc.

Job Description

Requirements (Education, Work Experience, Licensure, Registry and/or Certifications):
A bachelor's degree and one-year experience in student services programs.

Preferred:

• A bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years' experience in academic/student services programs.
• This position requires ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• Must be self-directed. Must be able to create reports that are thorough, accurate, appropriate, and timely.
• Ability to communicate effectively with external agencies (within SC and across the U.S) is critical.
• Extensive knowledge of academic environment and management policies and procedures are essential to successfully perform the duties of this position.
• Effective interpersonal skills are required in order to communicate, both orally and in writing with various agencies, faculty, staff, and students.
• Must maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Manages the advisement and course progression for CON graduate and certificate students through the University Student Information System and other systems that may be required. Responsible for managing plans of study, course activations, monitoring progression, and ensuring registration is accurate each semester. Works directly with CON leadership to evaluate, plan, and produce a student experience that focuses on support and success while also promoting accountability and professionalism. Triages initial communication related to student academic, clinical, and personal issues, elevating issues to appropriate leadership, when necessary. Collaborates closely with University resources (CAE, CAPS, Financial Aid, Student Health, Student Accounting, etc.) and external resources (AHEC) to resolve student issues and connect them with support as necessary. Participates on committees related to graduate students and programs. Works directly with students to promote scholarly networking and communication as well as professional networking to aid in the clinical placement process. (25%)
2. Completes recruitment and admissions duties related to the graduate programs. Works closely with the CON student recruiter and leadership to participate in recruitment events and info sessions and talk with prospective students, educating them about graduate program admission requirements, programs, rolling admissions and application deadlines. Connects current students and alumni to prospective students to deliver a quality experience to potential students. Manages admissions work through the centralized application system, NursingCAS, also serving as a CON SuperUser for the system. Reviews verified applicants’ profiles and ensures lead faculty holistically review and comment on each applicant prior to monthly admissions meeting. Ensures electronic admission packets include all necessary information, decisions are reflected accurately and distributed to applicants in a timely manner. Tracks admission numbers through the entire application cycle to report to program leaders. (25%)
3. Plans and executes student focused events for the graduate program, including program orientations, learning intensives, project proposals and poster presentations, dissertation defenses, receptions, etc. Assists with College of Nursing ceremonies, including Convocation & Pinning, participating in University Commencement as well. Manages graduate student awards and recognitions. (20%)
4. Manages communication efforts related to graduate students and alumni, including but not limited to employment plans, board certification pass rates, professional outcomes, employment satisfaction, promotion, etc. Completes verification forms/paperwork needed for APRN licensure and specialty certification for current students and alumni. (15%)
5. Coordinates and executes other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the following. Ensures accuracy of graduate program material on the website, including calendar dates, schedules, admission criteria, application deadlines, etc. Works with Director of Communications and Marketing on student profiles and to acknowledge and celebrate student success and achievement. Assists with accreditation. Assists with quality improvement initiatives, program enhancements and development of new programs. Ensures graduate student representation on appropriate CON committees. Collaborates with University offices, community partners, and anyone who contributes to the mission and vision of the CON as needed. (15%)
