Duties
  • You will be responsible for operating and maintaining the potable water treatment systems located at the outlying fields and range.
  • You will be responsible for performing quality control tests to ensure that the finished product meets the Safe Drinking Water Act limitations.
  • You will be responsible for collecting and preserving samples to be delivered to North Carolina Certified laboratories.
  • You will be responsible for generating reports detailing the monthly operation of each system and forwards them to the Branch Supervisor.
  • You will be responsible for operation, preventive/corrective maintenance and the quality control tests for the portable water treatment/distribution systems and the municipal wastewater collection/treatment systems.
  • You will be responsible for managing the treatment pond elevation as specified by the facility permits.
  • You will be responsible for installing, inspecting, and servicing backflow prevention valves and service connections as needed.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • You will be required to obtain government issued driver's license for various utility vehicles and other CDL Class B type government vehicles within 12 months of assignment to position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain Certification as Water Distribution Operator (C) and/or Wastewater Collection Operator-Grade I within 12 months of hire.
