Pay

This position is a Non-Exempt position at pay grade 105.

Attendance

Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview

The Utility Technician II will be responsible for maintenance and operations of the six (6) Wastewater Treatment Plants, the City's lift stations, and the wastewater collection lines.

Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate to advanced level process control measurements, testing of DO, pH, and Residual Analysis meters, jar tests, sludge quality tests, aqueous and atmospheric sulfide levels

• Assists in identifying maintenance requirements, developing preventive maintenance strategy plans, and performing root cause analysis of equipment failures

• Makes recommendations on findings

• Prepares purchasing and minor construction contracts indirect support of maintenance and operations

• Exercises expert application of TCEQ regulations

• Assumes command of control room in the absence of the lead operator

• Directs the activations of remotely operated processes

• Reviews water analysis results, recognizes MCL's and potentials to exceed

• Serves as technical subject matter expert for SCADA, I&E and Maintenance teams

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience

• Class C Wastewater Treatment License required at time of hire

• Class B CDL License within one (1) year of hire

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
