Position Summary

The Project Controls Manager develops and implements standardized project controls to manage budgets, cost and scheduling for engineering, procurement and construction projects. The role establishes controls and operating policies that identify, monitor, and mitigate risk factors that could impact the success of a project. This position creates standard methods for project estimating, procurement, accounting, work breakdown structure, contract management, reporting, and other project-related processes. The role ensures project controls adequately address cost or budget considerations, scope changes, supplier performance, and other risk levels. The Project Controls Manager also provides guidance and consultation to project managers. Note: The Project Controls Manager may be required to work on multiple projects.

Position Responsibilities

  • Direct Schedulers and Cost Engineers and assist project managers with scheduling, cost control and change management for construction teams, subcontractors, site managers and superintendents at various EPC job sites.
  • Provide direct management of schedule development, implementation and maintenance.
  • Maintain a relationship with the customer and management deliverables related to schedule updates, invoices and change order management.
  • Assist the Project Manager to communicate resource planning requirements to Supply Chain, Engineering and Safety.
  • Produce, update and issue regular status reports to the project manager, customers as may be required by a contract and to Senior Leadership as required.
  • Facilitate team and customer meetings as required to accomplish job functions.
  • Provide project financial forecasts and metrics.
  • Interface with the procurement, engineering, manufacturing and controls groups to expedite project deliverables and ensure schedule is maintained.
  • Ensure contractual reporting requirements are met for related discipline.
  • Working with project managers, maintain a working knowledge of contracts and own the responsibility for change management.
  • Ensure Safety and Ethics are promoted in all aspects of the work.


Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years direct work experience in EPC project controls capacity, including all aspects of project scheduling, cost control and change management.
  • Must exhibit technical leadership and have experience with team building, process improvement, conflict resolution, and motivating people.
  • Experience working independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Ability to plan, organize and multi-task to meet deadlines.
  • Strong background in managing teams.
  • Formal training in Project Controls management methods and techniques.
  • Primavera P6 experience required.
  • 30% Travel required.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or an engineering curriculum.
  • 10 + years direct work experience in EPC project controls capacity, including all aspects of scheduling, cost control and change order management development and execution.
  • PMP/PMI Certified. P6 Certifications
