Are you passionate about helping others and ensuring their safety? UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is seeking a dedicated Van Driver to transport our oncology patients to and from our Indiana Oncology Network office in Indiana, PA. This full-time position offers a daylight schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients from residence to vehicle. Ensure patient is able to safely enter and exit their residence and provides assistance to patient if required.
  • Schedule routine vehicle service inspections as recommended by the manufacturer. Record and maintain inspections in the maintenance log.
  • Operate vehicle in a safe and efficient manner at all times.
  • Observe all driving rules and regulations put forth by the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Ensure all the safety devices are in operating condition in the vehicle.
  • Respond to patient concerns. Observe patients for reactions to treatment and communicate to the appropriate staff member.
  • Perform routine safety checks of the vehicle daily and record results in the safety check log.
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of the vehicle.
  • Ensure that passengers wear seat belts.
  • Coordinate with the staff the daily schedule for patient transports.
  • Fill the vehicle with gasoline and oil at the end of each day.
  • Maintain a schedule (van log) of patients to be transported including the time they are to be picked up from and returned to their residence. A copy of the van log is maintained at the center and in the vehicle.
  • Schedule and obtain all emergency repairs.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Provide evidence of good driving record.
  • Must possess good oral and written skills.
  • Must be able to communicate with contacts both on the telephone and directly.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all age groups, populations and individuals.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Driver's License
  • Act 34
