As a Vehicle Quality Engineer, you ensure that company's products and processes meet established quality standards by identifying shortfalls, developing corrective measures, and implementing quality control systems. To meet these standards, you must work cross functionally, interfacing with engineering, manufacturing, operations, including customer feedback and technical teams. You will use customer feedback up and work directly with vehicle manufacturers to ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions are robust for quality issues. A successful candidate will be highly analytical, resourceful, customer-focused, and team oriented. The right candidate will possess vehicle quality engineering and assurance background, experience with new product launches, development, introduction, and operations in high volume manufacturing environment. They will have a well-rounded background related to product auditing, final acceptance inspection, problem solving, root-cause analysis, data gathering and analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key job responsibilities
• Work from the Customer(s) perspective, driving quality in design and execution of products, through Key Performance Indicators and Specifications.
• Lead quality issue investigation from both manufacturing plant and from field. Track, analyze, and resolve, ensuring root cause is robust and verify corrective actions are effective, using statistical problem-solving methods (6 sigma, red-X, TQM, SPC, or Shainin)
• Work directly with vehicle manufacturer' Quality, Production, and Supply Chain teams to drive first-time quality. Insist on the highest standards.
• Audit and identify gaps in quality systems of manufacturing partners by utilizing AIAG standards and develop them to ensure best in class quality vehicles are delivered to customers.
• Coordinate input from internal/external customers to better understand customer's need and/or perception to improve audit plan
• Lead continuous improvement projects and supports investigation of new technologies to improve overall quality performance
• Support all quality campaigns discovered and define clean beak-points at the manufacturing locations
• Travel expected - 25% to 35%
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of quality assurance engineering experience
- Experience as QA lead on medium to large sized projects
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
- Excellent communicator (verbal and written)
