The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) currently has multiple openings for project Human Services Program Coordinators (Veterans Outreach and Recovery Coordinator). These positions work as part of the Veterans Outreach and Recovery Program (VORP) within their assigned region and assist with referring area veterans to available services.

These positions are project positions and are scheduled to end June 30, 2025. Project positions are eligible for benefits including health insurance, but the incumbent does not attain permanent civil service status.

Position Summary

These positions serve as WDVA Regional Program Coordinators, providing a vast array of support services for Wisconsin veterans and their families throughout each position's assigned region. The incumbents conduct outreach support in the form of case management to veterans, ensuring connection to continual and effective treatment. These positions provide life sustaining and betterment resources to veterans and their families which may include behavioral health, housing, and employment resources.

The incumbents of these positions also provide liaison support to community and government organizations which serve Wisconsin's veteran population; promoting veterans' benefits to maximize delivery to Wisconsin veterans. Other duties include attending events such as workshops, town hall meetings, stand-downs, and benefit fairs.

Salary Information

The starting pay rate for these Human Services Program Coordinator positions is between $25.00 and $30.00 an hour ($52,000 and $62,400 annually). Current state employees' pay will be based on the provisions in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. This classification is in Pay Schedule 07, Pay Range 04.

Job Details

WDVA will conduct criminal background checks prior to an offer of hire.

Due to the nature of this position's duties, the work location may at times include confinement facilities such as jails and/or prison facilities as well as facilities that serve homeless populations.

This position will require frequent travel primarily within the assigned region which may necessitate driving and/or working in remote areas. This position may also periodically work evening and weekend hours.

The incumbent must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid Wisconsin driver's license prior to appointment and meet and maintain the standards for driving a state vehicle according to fleet management policies .

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of application. The WDVA does not sponsor work or student visas, either at time of hire or at any later time.

Qualifications

In their application materials, minimally qualified applicants will provide details on their experience with:
  • Providing program outreach (e.g., initiate face-to-face meetings with clients, identify outreach opportunities, organize events, distribute program resources, etc.); and
  • Conducting case management (e.g., work with clients on service referrals, perform initial client screening, maintain case management records, etc.).
Well-qualified applicants will also have experience providing liaison support between organizations.
